House calls are exclusively for those who are too ill or infirm to travel to the surgery as most medical problems are best dealt with in the clinic. In general, ill children may be safely transported to the surgery (they will be attended to with utmost importance). If you are unsure if a house call is required, please phone and speak to one of the Medical Team who can advise you further. Requests for house calls should be made, where possible, before 12 noon daily Monday to Friday.

A chronic disease is a long-term health condition that needs ongoing treatment and management. For example, cardiovascular disease and diabetes are considered chronic diseases. A Chronic Disease Management Treatment Programme is designed so that you and your GP (family doctor) can work together to monitor your condition and identify the best way to treat it now. We are committed to providing an efficient and professional service to our patients, and this includes providing 24-hour cover for medical emergencies. This service is provided by Westdoc. In case of urgency outside surgery hours, phone Westdoc at 0818 360 000. You will have an opportunity to discuss your medical problem with a specially trained nurse or an on-call doctor. If necessary, an appointment will be made for you to see a doctor at the local Westdoc treatment centre in Craughwell.

Westdoc is a service to provide GP care outside normal working hours. It is a service for patients of participating GPs. This is not an Emergency Service; it is for Urgent Care if your medical complaint cannot wait until your GP’s normal working hours. This service operates from 6.00pm to 9.00am Monday to Friday and a 24-hour service operates on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. Westdoc has centres in the following locations: Ballina, Ballinrobe, Craughwell, Galway, Glenamaddy, Knock, Roscommon, Tuam and Westport.
