Dr Avriel Mc Donnell qualified as a doctor with a Masters Degree in General Medicine in 2018 from Charles University in Prague, Third Faculty of Medicine. Avriel is from Galway and spent 4 years working in acute hospital settings in the west of Ireland gaining experience in emergency medicine, cardiology, respiratory medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry and obstetrics and gynaecology. Avriel underwent General Practice training on the Western Specialist Training Scheme in General Practice through the Irish College of General Practitioners. She completed her GP training in July 2024 after spending her 1st year working in a General Practice in Galway City and her 2nd year with us at The Surgery.
Avriel has an interest in dermatology after completing her post-graduate diploma in clinical dermatology from University College Dublin in 2020. She also has an interest in women’s health, sexual health, contraception and HRT and in 2022 she received a post graduate diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology from the Royal College of Physicians Ireland. Avriel is a qualified smear taker. She has a keen interest in teaching and learning and enjoys teaching medical students whilst they are on placement in our Practice.
